This season I am OBSESSED with nude colored heels. My personal faves are the Steve Madden skin toned heels. They are the perfect height (about 5 inches...I prefer my heels really high) and they come in a few different styles. Plus, if you buy them at DSW or a different discount shoe store you can get them on the cheap.
Here's how a few great looks to wear with a fabulous pair of neutral heels.
Steve Madden Suzii Platform Pump
$69.95 @ DSW
I adore these because they are classy, and have a vintage feel. The adorable ankle strap and the tall platform make the super high heel easier to walk in and much more comfortable. To top it all off, any pair of shoes this cute under a hundred bucks is a bargain.
Here's how to wear them...
For Work:
I love simple dresses that look like a blouse a skirt. When you have a dress that looks like two pieces you look polished and you don't have to worry about your shirt riding up under your skirt or having the buttons from your blouse lay funny under a pencil skirt. This dress is from my favorite online boutique Ruche and is only $38.99. The ruffled top is in the same color family as the nude heel, but the mocha skirt adds a pop of color so you won't look washed out. If you don't like bare arms at the office, add a simple blazer or cardigan for a finished and very polished look.
For Lunch with the Girls:
My friends and I love getting dressed up and going out for brunch of lunch. Garden cafes and cute little bistros are our favorites and its always fun to be the best dressed girl there. remember, being best dressed is one part fabulous and one part appropriate. When I do lunch with my friends I like to stick with skirt/sweater combos or flirty sun dresses. For this look, I took a faded-denim blue blouse with girly pleated details ($33.50 at Delias) and knee length floral skirt from Modcloth ($49.99). This look is girly and classy and colorful so it's perfect for spring or summer
For A Wedding...
It's getting warmer and love is in the air. Summer weddings are, like all weddings, the most confusing events to dress for. There is a fine line between too formal and too casual. It you're not in the wedding party, it can be nearly impossible to pick an outfit. My trick: ask other people you know are attending what they're wearing. The great thing about a summer wedding is that you can get away with less conservative outfits because it's hot out. Remember, you will probably be in a church or another formal venue (plus, Granny will be there) so don't go too scandalous, but there is nothing wrong with a shorter dress (NO MINIS). I love prints for summer, so find a nice printed dress (no polyester, unless you want to sweat to death) with lots of detailing. Cotton fabrics give the dress a more casual feel, but detailing and accessories can take a simple dress and make it a show stopper for a "business casual" or "semi-formal" event. Both of these dresses can be worn with our fabulous nude heels, and you can either add a cardigan, tweed jacket, or statement jewelry to dress up or down these pieces. The dress on the left is from Anne Taylor and is $98; the dress on the right is $189 from Talbots. Both are classic and you can absolutely wear them again, so don't let the prices scare you. Remember, if you were a $200 dress 20 times, that's only ten dollars per wear.

For Cocktails...
Nude heels work great with little black dresses. Use pastel accessories to lighten up your favorite LBD. I love this little, ruffled, linen dress. It's only 70 bucks at Banana Republic. Pair it with this seven dollar floral necklace from Forever 21 and you've got a young, fresh cocktail look for summer.
There are a million ways to wear nude heels, those are just my favorites. Be yourself. Simple staples in neutral colors are the building blocks to the best closets. Stay classy and stay affordable.
Love Always,
